Recent progress toward understanding of high temperature superconductivity by studying t- J type models

The variational approach which takes into account the strong correlation exactly has been used by us to study the two-dimensional extended t-J model for many years. Many of its results agree quite well with the properties observed for high temperature superconductors. We shall review some of the important results like the phase diagram of hole- and particle-doped systems, the anomalous ARPES and STS conductance, etc. Some new predictions also will be discussed.
